Researchers Unveil New Color Beyond Human Vision

Innovative experiments using laser pulses on participants’ retinas have revealed a color previously unseen by human eyes. The breakthrough challenges traditional notions of color perception and could spark new research in vision science as scientists explore how our visual systems respond to unconventional stimuli.
The new color, olo, is described as a "blue-green of unprecedented saturation."
Five individuals participated in the experiment, which involved shooting pulses of visible-wavelength laser light directly into their eyes to stimulate individual photoreceptor cells on the retina.
